Here at the year's end, I took a look back at the five days that got the most hits over the past year.

5. June 18: Superman underwear
In which I make fun of briefs of steel.

4. December 4: Portable poo
Another in my series of not-award winning posts about the shit emoji (which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018, by the way).

3. August 1: Marriage is for the birds
Hawkman reveals the truth about what women think about marriage.

2. April 12: Jimmy Walker, dynamite golfer
An archive of how helpful Google was following Patrick Reed's win at the 2018 Masters.

1. September 17: Just another list of movies watched in August
Uh, a list of movie reviews. (Seriously, I don't have any idea what part of that list attracted the attention. My review of Moonlight, perhaps? No idea.)

And while we're on the subject, I should mention that the 5 most triggered keywords are:

5. movies
Everyone needs my opinion.

4. action comics
I have 155 "superman" posts, but only one "action comics". Go figure.

3. spandex
A perennial favorite!

2. georgia
It's always on my mind, too.

1. poodle strip
What can I say? My readers have good taste.

Anyway, we now wipe our hands of 2018 and look forward to 2019, the year of the future!

My mother thinks this blog should be nothing but poodle comics. My friends think it should contain more embarrassing pictures of Walter. I think I should probably talk more about comic books and football. But what does the public want from Wriphe.com?

To settle this argument, let's look at the keywords that drew people to Wriphe.com in the past 12 months. The top five keyword queries, seriously, were

  1. gay Batman
  2. Rock Hudson
  3. men in spandex
  4. Batman gay
  5. spandex man

Without question the three biggest category searches that brought people from Google to Wriphe.com in 2012 can be summarized as "men in spandex," "are Batman and Robin gay," and, in a distant third place, "is Mio safe to drink?" In fact, if you Google "spandex man," my image from August 15, 2005 comes first in the Google image results.

Really, I don't know if that says more about my blog content or about what people are looking for on the internet. Whatever the case, I'm sure that this post isn't helping.

Does this make me look fat?

I think Google is trying to tell me something, but I'll be damned if I know what it is.

The above chart is Google's interpretation of traffic flow here at Wriphe.com. For the past 30 days, I've averaged better than 17 hits per day. (Do I even know 17 people?) Most of those people came directly to the site without search engine assistance. (That's a lot of typos.) However, the reason I show this is to point out that the three primary keyword searches that are sending people to this site are

  1. spandex man
  2. wriphe.com
  3. gay batman

It seems that I've developed a particular audience. Well, if that's what you want, that's what you'll get:

He's talking about a fist fight, people!

Wriphe.com: giving the people what they want since 2003.

A friend emailed me a link to spandexman.com, and I couldn't help playing with some of the pictures there. He's got unitards of all sorts, including Spider-Man and Superman costumes. I wish I could make things like that. All I can do is create digital pictures of things that don't exist. That doesn't exactly feed you in the woods, know what I'm saying?

Spandexman!

Damn, I wish I looked that good in a unitard. Spandex Man gets 2 thumbs up.
