Final batch of movies watched in January:

16. (1245.) The Martian (2015)
I can't say as I typically love Matt Damon movies (have I mentioned I don't like Good Will Hunting?), but I cannot deny that he turns in a great performance here. I enjoyed it a lot.

17. (1246.) Jem and the Holograms (2015)
The cartoon was awesome because of its blend of action/romance/sci-fi/musical/travel genres. The movie is crappy because it drains the magic out of the concept in an attempt at "realism." Hey Hollywood: Reality sucks. That's why we watch movies.

18. (1247.) Hot Pursuit (1987)
One part One Crazy Summer and one part Better Off Dead. Too bad it was the boring parts.

19. (1248.) The Beastmaster (1982)
No, I'd never seen the original Beastmaster all the way through before. (I'd seen television episodes, but those don't count.) I see the appeal now. There's plenty of unintentional silly here.

20. (1249.) Penguins of Madagascar (2014)
Another movie that's silly in all the right (and intentional) ways. Very fun. (Have you seen the television cartoon? It's no Jem, but it's pretty entertaining, too.)

More to come.
